A Little About Me...
Hi, my name is Shih Hao Ho, and I am the owner and principal clinician of Meridian Acupuncture & Herb Clinic. Thank you for checking out my page!
Like most people, I got my initiation to acupuncture out of sheer necessity.
Back in 1995, after one very intensive workout, my legs experienced a burning sensation with a rock-like rigidity that refuse to relent despite massages and stretching. Out of desperation, I sought acupuncture treatment. In just one session, the burn and the rigidity were not only eliminated but also replaced with a lightness that I haven’t experienced before. It was a very satisfactory initiation to acupuncture for me.
Years later, I was confronted with a decision he never thought he would have to make: adopting a cat. At that time, I was not only allergic to cats, but was also suffering from chronic seasonal allergies that turned every spring and summer into seasons of agony... After realizing that antihistamine was a poor remedy with undesirable side effects, I again sought relieve through acupuncture. Two sessions later, I was freed from the allergies that have tormented me for years. As for the cat? Oh yes, he rules the house.
In 2010, after leaving the high tech sector, I decided to pursue a career in the field of acupuncture and herbal medicine, drawn by their incredible healing power and intellectual challenges, as well as the rewarding nature of helping people. The field of medicine is a major departure from selling computer processor designs and writing flight software for a rocket, but experience I gained from high tech helped me develop the essential ability to assimilate disparage information and synthesize a composite views of a problem - the core mental framework that is particularly important in practicing acupuncture. It certainly helps that I am well versed in the Chinese culture and language, it affords me a sound understanding of the higher level of abstraction of the traditional Chinese medicine theoretical framework, without getting lost in any mystical trappings or cultural dogma.
